November 26, 2020 — Austrian Airlines will briefly offer Vienna – Zagreb flights during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Austrian company will offer 14 flights between the capitals of Austria and Croatia.
Austrian Airlines has serviced Zagreb Airport for a long time, according to Croatian Aviation. Therefore, one of the biggest unpleasant surprises in this pandemic year was the news that the airline would temporarily discontinue Vienna – Zagreb flights.
The reason for the temporary cancellation in service to Zagreb was obvious (falling demand). However, that raises the question regarding how Austrian able to offer regular service to smaller destinations in the region — like Pristina, Skopje and Sarajevo, and even Belgrade. Nevertheless, when Croatian Aviation reported the cancellation of the Vienna – Zagreb route, they indicated that Austrian Airlines might offer the flight during the holidays.
