ZAGREB, September 3, 2020 — People around the world recognize the Croatia national football team for their pride, passion and skill. Their iconic checkerboard jerseys also distinguish the team. On Tuesday, the Croatian Football Federation and Nike announced the highly-anticipated Croatia European Championship jerseys on their official websites.
The former World Cup runners home jersey will have the team’s usual checkerboard. This beautiful redesigned jersey also has red and white squares on the sleeves. The logos of HNS and Nike will appear on the front. The player’s number is located in the center front and in the usual back position. A blue line elegantly follows down the side of the jersey’s torso.
The jersey includes “Croatia” and “Vatreni”, familiar words of Croatian pride. White pants with red socks complete the new uniform.
The modern warm-up shirt will feature an unusual square pattern with two shades of blue. This is a different design for most fans. However, it is similar to the away kits that the team wore in Russia 2018 during their magical run. The new designs are a modern twist on an iconic jersey, while giving a nod to the jersey’s iconic history.

Nike VP: Croatia Strong Identity and Inspiration
“Croatia is a great inspiration to Nike because of the strength of its identity,” explained Scott Munson, VP of Nike’s Football Department. The new first jersey is faithful to the Croatian football heritage. However, the reserve jersey is a great interpretation of the Croatian design for players and fans.”
One of the biggest compliments came from World Cup hero and Croatia legend Luka Modrić. “I like the new jerseys and think they will suit us very well. The first jersey is a classic design within a modern design. I remember these striking squares when I watched the national team as a boy. The reserve jersey is new, different, and exciting, and something we haven’t had before.”
Fans can get their hands on the new jerseys beginning September 1 on the Nike website. Then, the entire collection will be available on September 4 in all Nike stores and their partners.
