Summary of Safety Measures in Split Dalmatia County
The necessary epidemiological safety measures include:
- Mandatory wearing of face masks or medical masks indoors in catering establishments except when food, drinks and beverages are consumed.
- A maximum of 50 people may be present at wedding ceremonies;
- A maximum of 20 people may be present at other private ceremonies and celebrations.
- A maximum of 50 people may be present at the funeral, no funeral banquets, and condolences to the bereaved must not be expressed through close contact.
- At all social gatherings (events, performances, masses, rituals, exhibitions and other social gatherings) it is obligatory to adhere to all prescribed epidemiological safety measures. If they are held indoors it is obligatory to wear face masks or medical masks and maintain a physical distance of at least 2 meters.
- Organizers of all social gatherings and owners of catering facilities are obliged to closely supervise the compliance with the prescribed epidemiological safety measures.
- The operation of gyms, fitness centers and other forms of organized recreation is suspended.
- Sports competitions may only be held without spectators.
- Visits to and departures from old people’s homes and other social welfare institutions are prohibited, and it is recommended that work be organized in shifts, whenever possible.
These safety measures go into effect August 27, 2020.
Safety Measures Introduced in Dubrovnik Neretva County
Joško Cebalo, Head of the County Civil Protection Headquarters, gave a statement to the media regarding the proposed epidemiological measures in the in the county.
- The number of people at wedding ceremonies is limited to 50, the same is true at commemorations and funerals, and the mourners cannot be in close contact.
- Private festivities can only be organized within the immediate family and should not be attended by more than 20 people.
- Religious rites, manifestations, exhibitions and similar events may be held, but with the implementation of all security measures. If they are indoors, it is necessary to keep a distance of two meters and wear masks.
“Our proposal is that the safety measures go into effect on Monday for a period of 14 days,” Cebalo explained, adding that the measures were adopted to protect citizens, preserve the season and the favorable epidemiological situation in Southern Croatia.

Case Breakdown: The new COVID-19 cases include 5 women from Dubrovnik, one of whom is the contact of a previously infected patient. One man from Dubrovnik was also infected, as well as one man each from Metković, Kula Norinska and Konavle.
No reports of self-isolation violations have been identified in the last 24 hours. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 62 self-isolation violations have been confirmed.

Case Breakdown: One new COVID-19 positive patient imported the virus after a stay in a neighboring country. For the others, epidemiological processing is underway.

Announcement: Visits and entry into social institutions such as homes for the elderly and infirm have been abolished until further notice. Health care centers are operating so that temperature measurement and disinfection will be performed at entrances. For all non COVID-19 cases there are family doctors and people are urged to delay less important examinations.

Announcement: Due to the reconstruction of Krešimirova Street, the City of Rijeka will not be able to provide access to vehicles to the drive in testing center from Friday to Monday. However, the Teaching Institute for Public Health is open to all citizens who want or need to be tested for COVID-19 and who can reach the institute by foot.

Case Breakdown: The new COVID-19 patient is asymptomatic and was exposed at a wedding on August 15 in Ivanec, and will be treated at home. Including the above patient, 23 cases of the virus have been associated with the mentioned wedding so far.

Case Breakdown: One new COVID-19 patient is a contact of an infected person, has mild symptoms and is already in self-isolation. The second is a young girl, with mild symptoms. The third is a child who is three months old. The source of infection of a young girl and a three-month-old child, who has mild symptoms, is a large joint gathering. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for the results for 14 people who were tested on Sunday.
Announcement: Due to the intense pressure on laboratories, where test samples for COVID-19 are arriving from tourists, workers from abroad, returnees from vacation, and patients — the test results have been delayed. On Wednesday evening, the test results for most of our county (which were sent on Tuesday) have arrived, according to the county headquarters.
