Croatia COVID-19 Summary of Past 24 Hours
After four consecutive days of breaking records with the daily number of new cases, Croatia recorded fewer new COVID-19 cases for two days in a row (NOTE: fewer tests are being performed over the weekend). Today, there was another increase with 219 new infections.
Two people have died.
Croatia Minister of Internal Affairs Davor Bozinovic indicated there would be no country-wide lockdown and that the hotspots will be extinguished locally.
“We are certainly won’t be entering another lockdown, but we need to be notified about hotspots in time so we don’t have to make decisions beyond what is necessary and possible at a given time,” he added.

Case Breakdown: One new COVID-19 infected person is a contact of a previously infected person and was already in self-isolation while the other new case is not a contact of previously infected people and further epidemiological research is underway.

Case Breakdown: 10 new COVID-19 from Slavonski Brod, 3 each are from Oriovac and Garčin, and 1 person each from Staro Petrovo Selo, Vrbje, Bebrina and Klakar.
Due to the significant deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the Brod-Posavina County, a proposal was adopted to limit the number of people at wedding ceremonies, which will be submitted to the Central Headquarters for approval. The proposal would limit the number of people at wedding ceremonies to a maximum of 50 for 14 days, and the decision would go into effect on August 31, 2020.

Case Breakdown: Two new COVID-19 cases are men from Dubrovnik, one of whom is a contact of infected person, and an epidemiological link is being established for the other. One man from the Dubrovnik Parish was also infected and an epidemiological link was also established. From Metković, one woman and one man were infected as contacts of a previously infected person. In Kula Norinska, two women and one man were infected as contacts of known cases. One woman from Zažablje was also infected, also a contact.
In the last 24 hours, 2 cases of self-isolation violations were identified. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 62 cases of self-isolation violations have been identified.

Three (3) people are from Serbia and are in the county for business reasons. One (1) person is from The Netherlands and was tested upon admission to Pula General Hospital for other health concerns. Epidemiological treatment is underway in 2 people.

Annoucement: Prefect Alojz Tomašević addressed the media today and said that the COVID-19 safety guidelines were being followed, and that there would be a meeting with school principals to prepare them for the school year.
“We must protect students and employees of all schools. There have been no exceptional events in our county, regardless of the increase in infected people in the last 10 days. Our system is functioning well and we are monitoring the increase in COVID-19 cases. We are happy that there has not been a large spike in our county. We will hold Aurea fest Požega in our city this week, and I ask everyone to adhere to the prescribed safety guidelines.

Case Breakdown: The first COVID-19 is a close family contact of a previously infected person without symptoms. Two cases are health care professionals, who are also asymptomatic. They were tested because they had been in contact with an infected patient.
One is a gynecology employee at the Varaždin General Hospital. The COVID-19 infection was detected upon his return from vacation as a contact of a positive person. The employee had returned to his job and a number of employees will likely end up in self-isolation, which will impact the workload of Varaždin gynecology department.

Case Breakdown: There are 6 new COVID-19 cases with no confirmed exposure. Seven patients were likely exposed during summer vacation, two are undergoing epidemiological treatment and 9 are from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Tomorrow there will probably be an increase in cases compared to today,” reported Zvonimir Sostar, head of Andrija Stampar Teaching Institute of Public Health. He added that the health care team is working overtime to process the tests in Zagreb and that employees are remaining at work for seven or eight additional hours.
Head of Education Ivica Lovrić said that the City of Zagreb will be procuring masks for all school children for whom wearing masks during classes is recommended.
