14:00 – In the past 24 hours, there are 67 new cases so the number of currently ill (active cases) in Croatia today is 727. That is 22 less than yesterday, which means that more people are recovering. One hundred twenty-five people are in the hospital. Six patients are on respirators and 1750 people were tested. One person died.
13:05 – According to the report from Split-Dalmatia County, 271 tests were processed and there are 16 new confirmed COVID-19 cases: 5 from Split, 4 from Sinj, 1 from Selce, 1 from Tučepi and 5 from the islands. Three people from Šibenik-Knin and Zadar counties tested positive in the county, and they are at the Rehabilitation Center in Vrlika.
Of the 16 newly infected persons, 13 are contacts of previously infected people. The other 3 are being treated epidemiologically and 532 people are in self-isolation.
20 COVID-19 positive people are at the Clinical Hospital Center Split, and two of them are on respirators.
12:40 – There are no new cases in Sisak-Moslavina County.
12:03 – Fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Zagreb, and the number of active cases is 166, the Zagreb Civil Protection Headquarters reported.
“Yesterday, 384 tests were done, 14 were positive, so we currently have 166 active cases in Zagreb. Sixty-five people were put into self-isolation, which brings the total to 463. Eighteen more people recovered,” Zvonimir Šostar, the Director of the Institute of Public Health reported at the press conference.
12:00 – There are no new COVID-19 infections in Karlovac County. Thirty-six people were tested and all were negative. Thirty were tested at OB Karlovac and 6 at OB Ogulin. Therefore, 95 COVID-19 patients are still registered in Karlovac County. Two patients are undergoing treatment in OB Karlovac and there are 47 people in self-isolation.
11:54 – In the past 24 hours, Krapina-Zagorje County had no new COVID-19 infections and two patients (Oroslavje) have recovered. There are 12 active cases in the county.
11:49 – Three new COVID-19 infections were recorded in Zagreb County on Friday, according to the Zagreb County Public Health Institute.
There are currently 50 active cases in Zagreb County. So far, 187 people have recovered and 11 have died. Two hundred forty-eight have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
The Zagreb County Civil Protection Headquarters urges residents to avoid traveling to countries where the epidemiological situation has worsened.
10:55 – For the twenty-third day in a row, there are no new cases of COVID-19 in Lika-Senj County. One patient, born in 1938, and who had significant health issues, has died.
10:45 – Osijek-Baranja County recorded 9 new COVID-19 cases.
During the last 24 hours, 226 people were tested at the Osijek Clinical Hospital and at the Osijek-Baranja County Public Health Institute. Nine were positive for COVID-19. Currently, 29 are hospitalized at the Osijek Clinical Hospital, two of whom are on respirators.
10:33 – In the last 24 hours in the Brod-Posavina County, three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed.The total number of infections in Brod-Posavina County since the beginning of the epidemic is now at 160, while the number of active cases is 12 (2 people less than yesterday). Three are hospitalized (1 more than yesterday). The number of people under self-isolation is decreasing and currently there are 49 persons in self-isolation (19 less than yesterday).
9:56 – Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has 1 new COVID-19 infection. The patient was in contact with an infected person at a wedding.
9:50 – Zadar County Headquarters reported no new COVID-19 infections. There are currently five active cases.
9:35 – There are no new COVID-19 infections in Virovitica-Podravina County. During the past 24 hours, 19 people were tested and all were negative.
9:15 – There are no COVID-19 infections in Bjelovar-Bilogora County.
9:05 – During the past 24 hours, 135 were tested for COVID-19 at the Institute of Public Health of Istria County. Two were positive. Two patients have recovered and there are 230 in self-isolation.
9:00 – There are 7 new COVID-19 cases in Vukovar-Srijem County.”In Vukovar-Srijem County, according to the data received by 8:00 am, in the last 24 hours there are 7 new positive people on COVID-19 (6 from Vinkovci and 1 from Ivankovo),” reads the announcement of the Headquarters.
8:30 – In Požega-Slavonia County, there are currently 8 active COVID-19 cases and all are in isolation at home. There are 15 people in self-isolation. A total of 3761 people have been tested. Forty-one tests were performed in the past 24 hours and all were negative.
7:30 – Alemka Markotić, Director of the Clinic for Infectious Diseases spoke on HRT about the current epidemiological situation in Croatia and the future.
“In recent days, the number of infected people varies and these oscillations are related to private gatherings,” explained Markotić
“We appeal to citizens who still do not understand that large gatherings lead to a higher risk,” she said, adding that they are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and hotspots.
Regarding a COVID-19 vaccine, Markotic said that of the 150 vaccines currently under development and four are in the third phase, but two are likely to be successful.
7:15 – A team of scientists from Goethe University in Frankfurt, led Ivan Đikić, revealed the differences between SARS and COVID-19 and identified the enzyme of SARS-CoV-2, which is a weak link within the virus. Inhibition of the detected enzyme has been shown to block the spread of the virus and enhance antiviral immunity.
